Push V2 (Classic CMS)
The new Push V2 feature has been added to replace the pre-existing push note feature on the CMS. The original Push Note feature has now been retired.
The feature has been updated with several new options to enhance functionality. These updates include the ability to target specific user segments, utilize geolocation targeting, and link directly to features within the app.
The push V2 feature allows sending push notifications to audience segments. With this functionality, we can target specific groups of users based on various attributes such as activity, location, and interests. By using audience segmentation, we can ensure that our push notifications are more tailored and relevant to each segment, thereby enhancing user engagement and the overall effectiveness of our messaging strategy.
Every app has six default audience segments:
- Subscribed Users: All users within your app who are subscribed to receive notifications.
- Active Users: Users who have logged in to your app recently.
- Engaged Users: Users who have logged in to your app frequently
- Inactive Users: Users who have not logged in to your app for a long time.
- SMS subscription: This option has been added for possible future updates.
- Email subscriptions: This option has been added for possible future updates.
- Default timescale: Last 30 days
- This segment includes users who have opened your app at least once within the last 30 days.
- Default timescale: Last 7 days
- This segment includes users who have opened your app at least 3 times within the last 7 days.
- Default timescale: More than 30 days
- This segment includes users who haven't opened your app for over 30 days.
Once you've chosen the desired audience segment, you can input the title and message for your push notification into the designated fields.
You can either upload the cover image for your push notification or add its URL.
Please note that if you upload an image and also add a URL, the URL will take precedence over the uploaded image.
Individual push notifications:
You also have the option to send push notifications to specific users. Please be aware that if you've chosen a user segment and a geolocation option, these selections will be disregarded if you enable the individual push notification setting.
You can search for a specific user using the search filter which makes sending the individual push notes very convenient.
Geolocation:
With our Push V2 feature, you can send push notifications to specific geolocations, allowing for more precise audience targeting.
It's important to note that if you enable this geolocation setting, both the user segment and individual push notification settings will be automatically disabled. This ensures that your push notifications are effectively targeted to the desired geographic area.
Please ensure that you enter the correct address in the location field and specify the radius in meters.
- User Consent and Privacy: To receive Geo Location push messages, users must first agree to share their location data with the app. This is essential for ensuring privacy and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Location Services Must Be Enabled: The ability of your app to send Geo Location push messages depends on users having their location services enabled. If a user's location services are turned off, they will not receive these targeted messages.
- Variable Reach: Because receiving Geo Location push messages requires user consent and enabled settings, not all users in your intended audience may receive these messages. Businesses need to understand this variability in message delivery.
Adding the URL:
You can link your push notification to any URL. Please ensure that you enter the correct URL in the designated URL field.
Linking to the pages (features) within the app:
You can effortlessly link your push notification to any feature within your app. Please use the search filter to easily locate the desired page, simplifying the task significantly.
Scheduling push notifications:
When sending a push notification via the App CMS, you cannot schedule a message for the same day. Scheduling is only available for dates from tomorrow onwards.
For future messages, the App CMS system will detect your local time based on your PC or laptop. To ensure this, you can click the 'Delivery time of day' option and then the 'Now' button to sync the system with your device's clock. This ensures that scheduled messages use your local time zone. See screenshot below:
Messages Folder within the app
For messages older than a day, the receiving date/time displayed in the push message folder within the app reflects the local date/time of the recipient.
Links to external URLs or app features are only accessible when you first click the push message. These links cannot be accessed from messages stored in the app's message folder.
